Legislative Aide Internship – Maryland General Assembly Session

During the Maryland Legislative Session, Compass offers college students a unique opportunity to experience state politics from a government/public relations office. Interns complete tasks such as:

  • Research legislation & relevant topics
  • Cover hearings by taking notes for government relations team & clients
  • Monitor floor sessions
  • Submit testimony
  • Schedule meetings between lobbyists, clients & legislators
  • Deliver distributions to General Assembly offices
  • Greet and provide hospitality to clients and visitors
  • Basic clerical duties such as:
    • answering phones
    • maintaining spreadsheets
    • & more!

This experience is unique because we can alter and cater the experience to the interns’ interests and career goals. Our previous interns have had success moving on to work in both state and federal politics!

We look for a reliable and motivated intern with an interest in government, policy, and Maryland politics. Successful interns are personable, and willing to work individually and part of the Compass team in a fast-paced office environment.
